Excerpt from the Illithid story:

He scratched his aching head in confusion. His friends crowded around a table in the Grist for the Mill Ale House. Something didn’t seem right, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

I’m forgetting something—something very, very important.

When he tried to recall what it was it slipped away again, just out of reach. His over-sized friend, Mac told a joke, but he could have sworn he’d heard it already.

Before I came to the bar I was doing something else.

His head hurt so much it made it hard to concentrate. Bits and pieces of memory caught at him.

I was in a cave.

Stalactites gleamed golden in torchlight. There was a stone-lined arch somewhere.

Where was it?

A damp chill swept through him and he shivered.

We’d been searching for something.
